Turner Industries Group Pipe Fabrication Division is hiring a Material Handler for temporary work at our fabrication shop in Paris, TX. This position is a temporary position, scheduled to last approximately 6 months.

Job does not pay per diem. Local candidates only.


The Material Handler / Pipe Puller position will be expected to work under the direction of a foreman, must be able to count, read, match numbers, have basic computer skills, be able to operate simple machinery and drive a forklift. The position requires the ability to communicate and work closely and efficiently with others in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment. Pipe Puller organizes, sorts, checks for inaccuracies and delivers new and used pipe associated and purchased per each customer's requirements and AML (approved manufacturers list); delivers pipe to production, stages the pipe and organizes in the shop so it can be located in a timely manner.


Functional Requirements:

  1. Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting of shift
  2. Stores, removes, loads, and unloads all types of pipe from storage bins, pallets and vehicles that cannot be handled by material handling devices
  3. Operates manual or mechanical devices and stocks inventory shelves
  4. Reads customer order, work order, material pull sheets, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  5. Assorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, or color
  6. Moves pipe and supplies from the materials warehouse and prepares for delivery
  7. Fills requisitions, work orders or requests for pipe, tools, or stock items; records material items received or distributed
  8. May maintain inventory records
  9. Performs additional assignments as required
  10. Always maintains a clean and safe work environment

Qualification Standards:

  1. Preferably one (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill preferred
  2. Pre-employment/post-employment qualification test.
  3. Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  4. Turner Industries Group/Job site orientation/Hazard Communication and required tests.
  5. Job site "Personal Protective Equipment" requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses OSHA approved Z87 if applicable, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel toe boots, etc.).
  6. Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.



Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.


Mental Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.


Work Environment Factors:

  • Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: Uneven ground level; obstructed pathways
  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: Indoor/outdoor climate; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.

Miscellaneous Requirements:
There will be times that the individual may be required to perform a task other than their normal operation as required by the company or the foreman, owing to the job demand.
