Turner Industries Group has a Maintenance and Turnaround Planner position open for a jobsite in Charleston, TN.  This position will work with our Project Planning team. The project planning team assists in achieving project objectives by monitoring job progress according to schedules and managing the project according to contract and internal procedures. This position is also responsible for the following items: 

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental excellence
  • Prior maintenance planning experience, including process downtime and outages
  • SAP experience, including:
    • Creating / Editing Equipment Bill of Materials (BOM)
    • Creating Preventative Maintenance Plans
    • New material setup
    • Material management
    • Planning / Scheduling - routine maintenance & turnaround
  • MS Office experience, including development of spreadsheets to track and chart information pertaining to maintenance
  • Ability to read OEM manuals to determine recommended spare parts and recommended preventative maintenance frequency
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Commitment to developing others and improving our maintenance processes
  • Track record of reliability, loyalty, and dependability partnered with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Reviews designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives, when appropriate
  • Coordinates with all stakeholders, ensuring understanding of project objectives and efficient utilization of resources
  • Reviews layouts, designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives, when appropriate
  • Establishes, builds and implements metrics for cost and construction estimate checks
  • Establish and perform planning activities in both Primavera and SAP project builder
  • Monitor activities periodically or as required to determine adherence to schedule
  • Provide bi-weekly and monthly schedule analysis to include critical path and areas of concern
  • Analyze data to interpret trends
  • Enable early identification of potential progress risks and good control of risk mitigation
  • Perform clear and accurate progress cut off reporting to management and clients
  • Responsible for providing moderately complex, detailed, timely progress reports to Project Manager and client of the overall project schedule, milestones and projected completion timelines
  • Monitor the execution of the complete scope of work and report progress
  • Perform look ahead analysis and follow up with discipline leads for activities that may be falling behind
  • Highlight any major deviations to the planned progress to the Project Manager

Secondary Skillset: 

  • Preparation of job notes / job packages is a plus
  • Working knowledge of the use of process flow sheets & P&IDs
  • Drafting experience is a plus
  • Experience with accounting guidelines associated with expense & capital determinations is a plus
  • Experience in the coordination of planned work with Maintenance supervision, Production, Technical, and Purchasing / Procurement to achieve efficiency and cost management in a proactive manner.  


  • BA/BS degree in Business, Engineering or Management, or 5+ years of technical or relevant experience
  • Competent in Primavera P6 software as a 'hands-on' user required
  • SAP experience required
  • Experience in engineering and/or construction work process and activity sequence required
  • Capital Project experience preferred
  • Proficiently communicate ideas and concepts
  • Ability to monitor and report project progress
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment is critical
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are important
