Turner Industries Group is looking for an IT Operations Support Inventory Control Specialist to join our IT Department in Baton Rouge, LA. The role of the IT Operations Support Inventory Control Specialist controls all aspects of inventory  management, equipment movement processes required for the receiving and shipping of equipment from/to vendors, remote locations and customers. The employee will utilize a combination of internal and external resources with the soul function of being the main point of contact for these services. This position reports directly to the Operations Support Manager.

Functional Requirements:

  • Address users in a friendly, courteous and professional manner always.
  • Answer, evaluate and prioritize incoming voice and electronic customer requests.
  • Document all information given and received in the service desk application to track inventory, calls, emails, walk-ups and project tasks.
  • Manage time and assignments efficiently to complete all ongoing projects, tasks and deliverables.
  • Review and apply inventory activities, including movements and deletions.
  • Maintain and update inventory records and facilitate this process across all locations.
  • Develop and implement efficient inventory management procedures.
  • Implement a loss prevention program.
  • Report any stock issues to management and coordinate requests for product orders as necessary.
  • Prepare a list of depleted products and a survey of unusable products.
  • Adhere to all company and operations support policies, procedures and standards.
  • Any other specific duties assigned.

Qualification Standards:

  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED Equivalent plus 2 years of secondary education or equivalent work/military experience. College preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of related experience including inventory management required.
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  • Pass the required safety courses and comply with all required safety guidelines for OSHA, TWIC and site-specific standards.
  • Maintain a current valid Louisiana Driver's license.
  • Meet Operations Support customer service standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Exemplary mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of microcomputer hardware and common software preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, meets productivity standards, completes work in an efficient and timely manner quality-focused and demonstrates strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting with peers and colleagues in a cross functional setting.
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Cost conscious ability to understand cost impact and conserves organizational resources.
  • Able to read, understand and follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines.
  • Must be punctual, maintain regular attendance and be able to work overtime as necessary to support departmental efforts. 

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movement of eyes, hands and fingers to operate machines and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.

Mental Involvement: 

Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
